Elko City Manager Jan Baum outlined numerous agenda items in time for the City Council meeting and promoted the Flight Alliance of Northeastern Nevada meeting on August 22. FANN is a non-profit group formed to prop up commercial air service in Elko which is deemed at-risk. Elko City leaders are also considering conveying property to the Boys and Girls Clubs for a Livestock Arena, may hire experts for a feasibility study for a new fire station and are looking at rezoning property for a strip mall near the Elko Peace Park. The city council is also poised to approve a $1.2M contract for concrete work at the Sports Complex and may approve an MOU with the Nevada Department of Wildlife for an Urban Fishery at Sharps Access. The council will also eye changes to some job alignments with the goal of attracting qualified Engineer and Public Works personnel.
