Lori Gilbert has been a radio broadcaster in Elko for more than 30 years. As host of the weekday radio show, “Elko, Live!” she interviews local and statewide guests on a variety of topics, keeping the community informed on emerging and ongoing issues.

Gilbert serves on the Board of Directors for the Committee Against Domestic Violence, the Nevada Arts Council, PBS Reno, and the STARS Committee for the Elko County School District.

Elko City Manager Jan Baum talked about agenda items including possible council support for a proposed rail merger between Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern, a presentation by the Flight Alliance of Northeastern Nevada to keep local air service aloft and consideration of a controversial ordinance that would mandate mixed residential construction in places like downtown Elko. City planners rejected the proposal although it is state law as of July 2026.
