City Vice Mayor Mandy Simons provided an update following last week’s regular City Council Meeting to include a temporary appointment of the Elko City Planner Cathy Laughlin as Elko City Clerk to fill a vacancy. City officials were on hand for a groundbreaking for the new Nevada Gold Mines Recreation Center to include two indoor and an outdoor swimming pool. The city is also staying up to date on Mormon Cricket control efforts as the countywide infestation has reached outer city limits.
