MEET YOUR HOST: JOE DOUCETTE
Joe has been fishing most of his life and as a military dependent has
fished all around the United States. After 20 years in broadcast
news, he took a job with the Nevada Department of Wildlife
as eastern Nevada’s Regional Supervisor for the Conservation
Education Division in 2000. His responsibilities included the
Angler Education program which under his care included
popular programs such as Free Fishing Day events, fly
fishing and tying programs, and the Angel Lake Kids Fishing
Derby. Joe has been fly fishing since he was 16 and opened
the Elko Fly Shop in 2008 inside of Cedar Creek Clothing
in Elko. In 2016 the Elko Fly Shop moved into its current
location at 310 Silver Street. In January 2022 after almost
22 years with NDOW, Joe retired. He continues to be a volunteer
instructor for NDOW’s Angler Education and Hunter Education
programs. He spends his days fishing, working the fly shop and
whatever honey-do’s his wife Mary demands!
