Elko County Library and the Family History Center will be
offering a four-part workshop series on how to create a family history. The
next workshop will be on July 9th at 11am at the
Elko County Library. Workshops will last an hour to an hour and a half. The

Head Start of Northeastern Nevada will have a yard sale on
July 11th from 9 to 2 at 1280
Golf Course Road. Bookcases,
children’s furniture and materials.
Proceeds benefit the Head Start classroom environments.

The American Red Cross will be offering an Introduction to
Red Cross Disaster Services on July 11th from noon to 4pm. All current disaster volunteers as well as those
interested in responding to disasters are encouraged to attend. There is no

AYSO Region 556 - soccer for Elko, Spring Creek and Carlin
will be held July 16th from 4 to 7 at the Igloo in Elko.
Registration is open to all children who are between 4 and 14 years of age as
of July 31, 2008. Parent
participation is needed with coaching, refereeing, and field coordinating. For

teams for the 2008 Elko Relay for Life on July 19th and 20th. It begins at 12 noon Saturday and ends Sunday at 8am. Theme this
year is “Sports” and will feature games, fund raising events, food,

Northeastern Nevada Museum’s Classic
Film Festival returns again this summer in the city park. On July 12th
“Damn Yankees”….July 19th “Old Yeller” and July 26 “Vince Everett”. All screenings begins approximately at
dusk. Movie goers are encouraged to
bring lawn chairs or blankets as well as picnic or movie food. All movies are free, but a donation of the
current price of a movie ticket would be appreciated. For more information

Total Eyecare is one again
sponsoring the Elko County Library’s Summer Reading Program’s coloring contest.
There are 4 different age categories.
Winners in each category will win a $25 savings bond and a pair of
sunglasses. 2nd place winners will receive a pair of
sunglasses. The coloring pages may be
picked up at the library or Total Eye Care. The contest ends July 27th.

District’s Summer Food Service Program
offering free breakfast and lunch for all children 18 and younger will be
offered now through August 1st at the Southside School. Breakfast hours are 8 to 8:30am and lunch

held July 31st thru August 3rd. Opening ceremonies will
be held July 31st at 6pm at The
Terrace Senior Center on Ruby

The Elko Police Department, Local Law Enforcement Community

annual National Night Out on August 5th from 6 to 10pm in the Elko City Park. There will be food and refreshments, as well
